Autism and social communication
It is commonly believed that autistic people have a social communication deficit. Autistic academic Damian Milton challenges this idea with his concept of “The double empathy problem” whereby the communication difficulty does not reside solely with autistic people but rather in the difference between autistic and neurotypical ways of communicating.
This talk will look at the mechanisms underlying autistic social differences and consider how communication between people with differing neurology’s might be improved.
